Michel Mulders
Michel Mulders is een Nederlands componist. Mulders componeert en produceert onder andere voor speelfilms, documentaires, moderne dans, theater en multimedia toepassingen, online- en rtv commercials. Enkele voorbeelden hiervan zijn de Wisselwachter van Jos Stelling, de film Ei en Mykosch van Danniel Danniel, moderne dansvoorstellingen Profiel, So Long Johnny & She Said, theatervoorstellingen Ghetto, Stradszinski & Picnic van Vis a Vis, RTV-commercials voor o.a. Riedel (Appelsientje, goudappeltje, pompelmoentje etc.) & VSM homeopathie.
Naast componist, producer en sound designer is Michel Mulders oprichter van geluidsstudio Studio Michel Mulders en Centersound en de uitgeverij Spectral-Records. Beide bedrijven zijn gevestigd in Amsterdam Centrum.
Hij richtte in 1982 Nederlandse New Wave formatie Spectral Display op. De groep had een hit in 1982 met het nummer It Takes A Muscle To Fall In love Uitgebracht in 13 landen. Eerst in Nederland, Italië, gevolgd door Frankrijk, Duitsland, Spanje, de UK, België, Australië, Nieuw Zeeland, Japan.... Het nummer werd v.a. 2010 gecovered door diverse internationale zangers waaronder M.I.A. Zij bracht deze track als haar tweede single uit van het album MAYA (produceerd door Diplo). In 2020 is het derde album You Steal My Heart uitgebracht.
It Takes A Muscle is gebruikt in Amerikaanse films zoals, Simon Killer van filmmaker Antonio Campos, de romantische comedy Straight Up van James Sweeney (in 2020 op Netflix) en in Prins van de Nederlandse filmmaker Sam de Jong (welke een Gouden Kalf won voor Beste filmmuziek).
