Marvin Richardson Vincent (Poughkeepsie, New York, 11 september 1834 – Forest Hills, New York, 18 augustus 1922[1]) was een presbyteriaans predikant en professor. Hij is best bekend voor zijn werk Word Studies in the New Testament.

Leven

Vincent studeerde af aan de Universiteit van Columbia in 1851. Hij gaf les aan de Columbia Grammar School en was professor Klassieke Talen aan de Troy Methodist University van 1858 tot 1862. Van 1862 tot 1863 was hij de pastor van de Pacific Street methodistisch-episcopaalse kerk in Brooklyn; en van 1863 tot 1873 pastor van de First Presbyterian Church te Troy, New York. Daarna was hij pastor van de Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, in een klein kerkgebouw in Victoriaans Gotische stijl aan East 42nd Street, nummer 310.[2][3]

Vanaf 1888 was hij professor in de Exegese en Tekstkritiek van het Nieuwe Testament[4] aan het Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
