| Maroeska Metz (Amsterdam, 3 januari 1959) is een Nederlandse designer bekend geworden door de toepassing van de krul, thans vaak genoemd ‘de Maroeska krul’.Zij heeft sinds 1989 haar eigen label met de naam Maroeska Metz. Zij ontwerpt en produceert voornamelijk voor haar eigen label maar maakte ook ontwerpen voor o.a. voor Gelderland/Arx, Designers Guilt, Arzberg, Essenza. Metz volgde de opleiding beeldhouwen aan de Gerrit Rietveld academie Amsterdam (1980-1985) waar zij afstudeerde met het project ‘eetbare beelden’. Na 5 jaar als beeldhouwer te hebben gewerkt ontwierp zij voor eigen gebruik een kandelaar van smeedijzer, dit werd de basis van een internationale doorbraak met haar metalen kandelaars en verlichting. Naast lampen ontwierp Metz o.a. tapijten, serviezen, bestek, spiegels, bureaus, kindermeubelen, stoelen, tafels, banken, kasten, kwartetlessenaars, muziekstandaards, leeslampen, bedden, stoffen, theedoeken, bedtextiel en glaswerk. Een speciale plek in haar oeuvre wordt ingenomen door haar juwelen. Deze in 18 karaats goud met edelstenen uitgevoerde ontwerpen vormen sinds enige jaren ook een onderdeel van haar collectie. Er zijn tientallen artikelen verschenen over haar werk in toonaangevende bladen als Voque, Elle decoration, World of Interiors etc. In 2015 is er een boek over haar werk uit gekomen bij uitgeverij Edition Louvre Victoire Paris onder de titel Maroeska Metz. | All over the world. She has collaborated over the years with many architects and Projectshops in Europe. She has participated in many different fairs in France, Germany, Belgium, UK and Italy. Apart from het design work Maroeska is also a passionate professional cook. She had for several years her own private restaurant.
